The NBA and the NBPA (Nation Basketball Players Association) have finalized the terms in the revised collective bargaining agreement for the league’s restart in Orlando. ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski delivered an update on the negotiations between the two sides on Tuesday.
As expected, NBA and NBPA have finalized terms of the revised CBA for the Orlando restart, sources tell ESPN. All items in Saturday’s league memo to teams are agreed upon. Transaction window starts at noon.
Prior to the finalization of the terms, Wojnarowski revealed that a slight change was crafted to the policy regarding replacing players that test positive for coronavirus. The new guidelines require that if a team plans to replace a player who has tested positive, that action must be completed no later than seven days after the confirmed positive player resumes training.
Outside of the revised CBA, the NBA and NBPA agreed on a re-tooled insurance policy that players can utilize if they make the trip to Orlando for the restart.
NBA and NBPA have agreed to put into place an enhanced insurance plan for players in Orlando that would cover career-ending injuries related to Covid-19 or conventional basketball injuries, sources tell ESPN. Potential group policy would cover players for several million dollars.
Full training camps in Orlando are set to start on July 11.
